ExtJs is a project spawned from a yahoo javascript framework. It provides an immediately professional looking web interface with access to numerous web components. But before we get into all of that let's start with the obligatory Hello World

<html>
<head>

<!-- Ext relies on its default css so include it here. -->
<!-- This must come BEFORE javascript includes! -->
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"
	href="http://www.crosswiredigitalmedia.com/ext-3.3.0/resources/css/ext-all.css" />

<!-- Include here your own css files if you have them. -->

<!-- First of javascript includes must be an adapter... -->
<script src="http://www.crosswiredigitalmedia.com/ext-3.3.0/adapter/ext/ext-base.js"></script>

<!-- ...then you need the Ext itself, either debug or production version. -->
<script src="http://www.crosswiredigitalmedia.com/ext-3.3.0/ext-all.js"></script>

<!-- Include here your extended classes if you have some. -->

<!-- Include here you application javascript file if you have it. -->

<title>Getting Started with Extjs</title>

<!-- You can have onReady function here or in your application file. -->
<!-- If you have it in your application file delete the whole -->
<!-- following script tag as we must have only one onReady. -->

<script type="text/javascript">
	// Path to the blank image must point to a valid location on your server
	Ext.BLANK_IMAGE_URL = 'http://www.crosswiredigitalmedia.com/ext-3.3.0/resources/images/default/s.gif';
	Ext.onReady(function(){
		Ext.Msg.alert('Test Extjs', 'Hello World');
	});
	</script>

</head>
<body>

</body>
</html>

This will create a blank page that pops up up an styled javascript alert. Something like this

'Click to Call' SMS Campaigns offer High Response Rate

'Click and Send' text messages asks the customer to respond by SMS. This method has a number of advantages:

  • Does not require a call center
  • Cost effective even with a 1.5% response
  • Customers can respond at their own time any time of the day.

However some customers are put off by the lack of human response

'Click to Call' provides a number for the customer to call.

  • This provides an immediate response option for the customer
  • Appropriate for premium products
  • Promotions and discounts increase the response to 2.5%

A simple strategy of SMS reminders helped cut the cost and the waste:

  • An automated SMS messages is sent to the patients a day before their appointment
  • The patient is allowed to opt out of any further messaging.
  • Messages can also direct patients to relevant information, updates or delays that may affect them.

Religious Groups Strenghten Communities by SMS

Nigerian religious groups have been quick to grasp the role of SMS and mobile communication to enhance relationships apart from the traditional face-to-face communication. These messages to the community can be come in different forms :

  • Faith-based pronouncements - seasonal or occasional expressions of support and declaration of faith.
  • Prayer & Well-Wishing - wishing well for receiver, community members, country or events.
  • Admonition & Assurance - spreading warnings to the community or provide assurances to the health and behaviour
  • Appreciation - providing appreciation to individual actions or actions of the community as a whole.
  • Praise & Worship - classic religious worship extended to the mobile world.
  • Seasonal Greetings - celebrating events in the religious seasonal calendar.
  • General Information/Announcement - announcement of events and gatherings.
  • Calls to Action - requests for support, physical, skills and financial.

This increasing demanding 24 hour, world means that physical event attendance is becoming increasingly difficult. But SMS allows groups to stay closely knit and interact without the physical restrictions.
